Yuuki Saito in the US

by on Jul.03, 2007 @ 6:01 am, under College

The 36th Annual USA vs. Japan Collegiate Championship Series begins on the 4th of July, a best of 5 series. Yuuki Saito is on the roster for Japan.

The media over here is already spending quite a bit of airtime providing coverage for the upcoming series and Yuuki Saito. In fact, they just showed a 10 minute piece on him discussing how he has picked up a two-seamer and how he will be incorporating the pitch. They also showed a brief interview with him after a practice game that saw him give up 4 runs in 2 innings -- seems like he'll be working on a new game play specifically designed for US hitters.

As I mentioned earlier, Saito has already pitched in a practice game... Actually, he has pitched in two practice games.

Columbia Blowfish
Result: 4 runs in 2 innings

Fayetteville Swampdogs
Result: one scoreless inning

I'll definitely be paying attention to this series as I'm very interested how he fairs against bigger, stronger hitters.

Should be very interesting.
