NBP ASG: Game 2 CL beats up on the PL, 11-5

The Pacific League All Stars once again flexed their muscles and beat up on the Central League All Stars, 11-5. The game was actually called in the top of the 8th due to rain, but not before Alex Ramirez slugged another 2-run shot, his second in two straight games.

Masahiro Tanaka got the call to start the second game of the Gulliver All Star series for the PL in front of his home crowd in Sendai while Hisanori Takahashi was tabbed to start for the CL. The first inning ended with the PL taking the lead on a 2-run homerun by Sendai fan favorite, Takeshi Yamasaki (he has experienced something of a resurgence this year after going through some rough times the last few years).

But the good vibrations for the PL would stop there. In the top of the second, the CL hitters came alive and immediately put 6 runs on the board (a 3-run homer by Shinnosuke Abe, a 1-run double by Hirokazu Ibata, and a 2-run double by Tomohisa Nishi). Things didn't get any better for the PL in the bottom half as Takahashi retired the side in order.

The CL didn't let up in the top of the third, tacking on an additional 2 runs (run scoring singles by Ibata and Norichika Aoki) to make the score 8-2. And the PL wouldn't answer back with any runs until the bottom of the 4th (1-run single by Cabrera) and the bottom of the 6th (run scoring singles by Yosuke Takasu and Hichori Morimoto).

With the rain coming down stronger, Takahiro Arai lead off the top of the 7th by drilling a fastball up and in over the right field wall. The next three batters went down in order. The CL didn't put up much of a fight in their half of the inning.

Yoshimoto Tani led off the top of the 8th with a single up the middle. Alex Ramirez then stepped into the batter's box, coming in to pinch hit for Roji Aikawa. So with Tani at first, Ramirez dug in and fouled off the first pitch he saw, a fastball up and away. Ramirez wasn't as forgiving on the next pitch, a fastball in, and drove if into the right-field stands for a 2-run shot.
