Yu Darvish: Game #20

by on Aug.18, 2007 @ 4:49 am, under NPB

Another game, another solid start, another victory for the 21-year old ace. In his 20th start of the season, Darvish couldn't have looked any sharper. He kept the Hawks offense off-balance and struck out two batters in a frame 4 times (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 7th innings) and ended his outing with 10 strikeouts in all.

The Fighters offense also exploded 5th inning as they batter around and scored 7 runs on 8 hits, including a 3-run homer by Atsunori Inaba, and a walk.

Darvish picked up his 11th win of the season, dropped his ERA to 2.05, and racked up his 157 strikeout of the season (tops in the league).

Final score: Fighters 8 - Softbank 1

Yeah, I heard about it. Didn’t really make the headlines over here in Japan though. Japan can be so apolitical sometimes. Anyway, not much of a real surprise. I probably would have been more surprised had he picked Iran. I’m guessing he has more to gain by keeping his Japanese citizenship over his Iranian citizenship.
