Norihiro Nakamura: NPB Series MVP

by on Nov.02, 2007 @ 4:15 am, under NPB

After struggling the last few seasons, it was nice to see Nakamura playing well. I think it capped off a pretty nice season for him, especially after being cut from the Orix Buffaloes last season when he finished the season with a .232 batting average with 12 homers and 45 ribs over 85 games. He was actually invited to play with the Dragons as a trainee and ended up latching on with the team -- good for the Dragons because Nakamura got some really important hits over the course of the play-offs.

Nakamura did struggle against the Giants during the second round of the Climax Series, but then Woods had things under control (Woods has been labeled a Giants killer) by going 3-for-10 with 2 homers, a double, 5 ribs, and 4 runs to go along with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts.

All in all, a great playoff run for Nakamura.

    Yeah, that experiment ended awfully…

I think things would have gone better for him in the Majors had he been able to stick around with the Mets during his first go around.
