Hanshin Tigers left fielder Tomoaki Kanemoto hit his 400th career homerun vs. Hiroshima Carp right hander Ryoji Yokoyama in the top of the 9th with a runner on first. Kanemoto drilled the first pitch he saw from Yokoyama, a 86 mph (138 km/h) fastball down the middle, into the rainy sky night over the right field wall. In hitting number 400, Kanemoto became only the 15th player in NPB history to reach the milestone. And at age 40, he is the oldest player to reach the milestone.
Kanemoto also got his 2,000th hit of his 17 year career earlier this season. He is currently hitting .280 with 6 homers and 28 rbi.
