NPB: 2008 Mazda All-Star Game 2 / CL beats PL, 11-6

by on Jul.31, 2008 @ 10:09 pm, under NPB

I still don't know who will be in the lineup, but I do know that Masahiro Tanaka will be pitching today (he was interviewed during the game last night and mentioned that he'd probably get a couple of innings in). I wasn't sure if he would pitch in the All-Star game because of his injury, but it appears as though he's fine now. We'll see how he pitches today.

I'll be at the game so I won't be able to post any updates. I'll also be heading out to Sendai after that so I don't think I'll be able to post much of anything until tomorrow.

I've got my camera and zoom lens all set and ready to go. We're planning on trying to at least catch the home run derby before the game so I'll try to take some shots from that as well. Yokohama Stadium is somewhat small (capacity of 30,000) so I'm guessing most seats in the house should be halfway decent. BTW: my seats are on the first base side, back on the incline.

The forecast for today: Partly cloudy with highs around the mid to upper 80's and humidity hovering around 70%. The weather has been unpredictable though, so I'm crossing my fingers -- hopefully there won't be any sudden downpours.

I hope you both have a great time. I’m really looking forward to the pictures and hearing how it went.

I just saw the results of the game, and it looks like you got to see quite a bit of offense.

It was a really humid day so I thought that perhaps it might affect batted balls hit in the air… There were 5 homers in the game so the humidity may have helped a little.

It was also pretty special because we also had a chance to see Iwakuma, Tanaka, and Fujikawa pitch live. Kroon was pretty amazing as well. People were oohing and ahhing him in the beginning because he hit 160km/h+ (100mph) two or three times against the first 2 or 3 batters he faced. It was an impressive showing.
