He's got six strikeouts though three innings. Interestingly enough, he's up against Shairon Martis, a Nationals' farmhand.

Speaking of Olympic baseball, Stephen Strasburg is pitching right now for the USA team. I didn't really notice anything strange with his motions (to compensate for pain) and he was throwing the ball pretty hard. Based on what the announcers were saying, it seems like Hoshino will be using him in various situations, but I kind of got the feeling he wouldn't be starting any games. I'm thinking an inning or two here and there when needed. If this turns out to be true, it may be that Hoshino doesn't want to overwork Tanaka so soon after having arm pains.

Tanaka seemed pretty loose out there. Tsuyoshi Wada started the game against the CL Stars after Darvish started the game against the PL Stars the night before. He's probably a good bet to start against Taipei, but I'm not entirely sure.

As always, it's nearly impossible to find information about potential starters for future games (it's the same for regular season NPB games).

Good question.
