I remember Baseball Weekly used to cover them on a regular basis. But the current site for AWBF lists a few leagues around the country. I would think it has to be tough for them competing with softball which has grown a bit in stature here. ESPN regularly covers college and national softball.

I think, at least in terms of the media, that it’s probably not as popular as it was during the Silver Bullet years. I told my girlfriend and she didn't even realize that Japan had a team playing at the tournament. There is one player that has recently gotten some press: Ayumi Kataoka (片岡安祐美).

I don't really remember hearing much about women's baseball back when I was in the States, has it grown any over the last few years?

I think the last big thing I remember hearing about were the Silver Bullets, but that didn't really last that long.

I think most people in Japan don’t really follow female baseball players much. There hasn't been a lot of buzz on this tournament here in the states either. BTW, one of the U.S. players, Megan Meidlinger, is from the D.C. area.

Congrats to Japan. It looks like they had a pretty good offensive team.
