Pacific League

With the season winding down, I thought it might be interesting to start writing a little about how teams are shaping up during the final stretch.

Hisashi Iwakuma (岩隈 久志) won his 19th game of the season by holding the Nippon Ham Fighters to 1 run over 9 innings on 3 hits, 2 walks, and 8 strike outs. Things seem to be falling into place for Iwakuma this year after 3 rocky seasons with the Golden Eagles.

The Seibu Lions beat the Chiba Lotte Marines, 4-3. Kazuhia Ishii (石井一久) took the victory for Seibu while Shunsuke Watanabe (渡辺俊介) took the loss for the Marines. Alex Graman picked up his 28th save with a perfect 9th.

The Softbank Hawks couldn't take advantage of a Fighters loss as they were downed by the Orix Buffaloes, 4-1. The Hawks have now lost 5 straight and are now 1-9 over their last ten and 2-12 in the month of September.
