NPB Roundup – 9/25: Tigers reclaim first place

by on Sep.25, 2008 @ 9:15 am, under NPB

Central League

The Hanshin Tigers beat the Yokohama Bay Stars, 5-3.

Makoto Imaoka only had one hit in his four trips to the plate, but he made that one hit count: a 3-run double in the bottom of the fourth that capped off a 5-run inning for the Tigers.

If not for the one bad inning, the Bay Stars may have been able to pull a win off against the Tigers, a team they have only beaten 8 times out of 22.

NOTES: Kyuji Fujikawa recorded his 100th save of his career. ... Seiichi Uchikawa picked up 2 more hits in four trips to the plate and is now batting .377 (170-for-491). ... The Bay Stars head to the Nagoya Dome for a 1 game series against the Dragons. ... The Tigers play host to the Giants for a one game series.

Good things always come to an end, and the Giants' 12-game winning streak was no exception.
