It's been a really great game so far. The game is going into extra innings now with the score 0-0. Tanaka Masahiro pitched a great game, but unfortunately he won't be getting his 10th victory of the season.

Tanaka Masahiro
9.0 IP, 36 BF, 6 H, 10 K, 4 BB, 140 Pitches

He manage to strike out every batter in the Hawks' lineup at least once.

Toshiya Sugiuchi has also pitched a great game. At this point, he's still in there, but we're in the top of the 10th so it's entirely possible he comes out for the bottom of the inning.

9:07PM UPDATE: Top of the 10th. The Hawks have a runner on third with 2 outs. The Eagles are intentionally walking Matsunaka.

9:11PM UPDATE: Naoto Watanabe (SS) just made a nice catch on a ball down the third base line that looked like it might be going foul, but came back into play. End of the inning, on to the bottom of the 10th.

Just thinking to myself here... Why not just end the game here and call it a tie? That way no one loses face and both teams finish in last place. I think that would be a very perfect, Japanese-type ending.

Takayuki Shinohara is now in the for the Hawks. So Sugiuchi's night is now officially done.

Sugiuchi ended his night with 11 strikeouts, giving him 213 on the season, pushing him past Yu Darvish for most K's in the PL (and most likely the CL as well). That means Darvish will finish in second for Ks and ERA this season.

9:20PM UPDATE: Makoto Sato is now in the game for the Hawks.

9:24PM UPDATE: Sato gets Shima to ground into an inning-ending double play. Onto the 11th!

9:26PM UPDATE: Kanehisa Arime is in for the Eagles.

Tsuyoshi Kawagishi
1.0 IP, 5 BF, 0 H, 0 K, 2 BB, 13 Pitches

9:30PM UPDATE: Takeshi Tsuji just hit a double with 1 out. Munenori Kawasaki is in the batter's box.

9:35PM UPDATE: Kawasaki grounded out to short and Hiroaki Takaya flied out to end the inning with Tsuji at third. Bottom of the 11th, Sato is still in there for the Hawks.

9:40PM UPDATE: Takahiro Mahara into pitch for the Hawks with one out and Kenshi Kawaguchi at second. Kawaguchi started the inning with a single and then was bunted over to second by Watanabe.

9:44PM UPDATE: Yosuke Takasu grounded out to first, moving Kawaguchi over to third. Runner on third, 2 out. Jose Fernandez up to bat.

9:46PM UPDATE: Fernandez just nailed the ball, but unfortunately it was right to Hiroshi Shibahara. Inning over.

9:49PM UPDATE: Koji Aoyama is now in to pitch for the Eagles.

9:56PM UPDATE: Aoyama hit the lead-off batter (Hisao Arakane), who was then bunted over by Satoru Morimoto. There is currently 1 out with a runner on second. Nobuhiro Matsuda is in the batter's box with Matsunaka on deck.

9:59PM UPDATE: New pitcher for the Eagles: Kenta Satake. He inherits runners on first and third with 1 out. Matsunaka at bat.

Koji Aoyama
0.1 IP, 3 BF, 0 H, 0 K, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 13 Pitches

10:02PM UPDATE: Satake gets Matsunaka to hit into an inning ending double play. End of the inning. The Hawks now can not get a victory.

10:04PM UPDATE: It's raining pretty hard at Kleenex Stadium. From the video I'm watching, it doesn't appear as though many fans have really left the game.

Kusano starts the Eagles off with a double in the bottom of the 12th. Akihito Fujii now in to pinch-run for Kusano. Yamasaki at the plate.

10:08PM UPDATE: Yamasaki hits a single through the left side. Fujii rounds third and scores the game.

Game over, Eagles WIN!

Oh looks a little sad out there in the dugout, but...

Nomura just handed Oh flowers at the center of the diamond. The fans are giving him a standing ovation.

So the Eagles avoid finishing the season in last. The Hawks really shouldn't have been in a position to fight for 5th place at the final game of the season. It's really too bad he couldn't finish his season on a better note.

NikkanSports reported that 300 people lined up at the Fukuoka Dome to watch the game.
