Not a lot of major headlines in the NPB right now, what with most businesses diverting their energies towards ringing in the New Year. I did happen to find one headline I thought might be worthy of posting, considering the current state of the game in Japan.
Sanspo: The Lotte Marines reported that they suffered the same amount of losses this past season, as they did in 2007 -- about 2.8B yen, or roughly $31M. Club officials are hoping to cut back their losses to at least 1B yen by 2012.
The article (and I'm guessing the team) sort of takes a stab at Bobby by saying that he's the cause for the losses and mentions that the team probably won't be able to cut back on their losses until 2010.
The plan is to drop their losses by 800M yen in 2010, 500M yen in both 2011 and 2012.
For those wondering, I think Bobby is set to make 500M in his final season with the Marines.
