by on Jan.13, 2009 @ 11:06 am, under NPB

Sponichi is reporting that the Atlanta Braves have signed Kenshin Kawakami to a 3-year deal. No word on the dollar figures.

The Yomiuri Giants have signed ex-Yakult Swallow Dicky Gonzalez to a 1-year deal worth 30M yen. This marks the third ex-Yakult player the Giants have signed in 2 years (last year they sto... er, signed Alex Ramirez and Seth Greisinger).

Four people were voted into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame yesterday. They are Tsutomu Wakamatsu, Noboru Aota, Yoshinori Ookoso, and Ichiro Kimijima. There are now 168 individuals enshrined in the Hall of Fame.

Hiromitsu Ochiai was passed over, missing the Hall by just 1 vote.

Unfortunately, no. But it’s one place I really want to visit. It actually isn’t too far away from where I live (I think maybe 30 minutes by train).

If I go, I’ll try to take pictures of the neighborhood.

Maybe I’ll try to go when it gets a little warmer. I definitely want to try and go sometime this year. I’m actually thinking about trying to catch a couple of WBC games this year — perhaps I’ll have time to swing by then.

(The Japanese HoF is basically located in the Tokyo Dome.)
