The Chiba Lotte Marines have stated their interest in Yuuki Saito. They join the the Yakult Swallows, Nippon Ham Fighters, and Softbank Hawks as teams who will consider him in upcoming drafts.

Shigeo Nagashima said he expected Koji Uehara to win 10 games in the Majors and that 15 would be an exceptional season. Nagashima is also looking forward to when Uehara and Hideki Matsui face-off against each other.

Talk about being clueless... I didn't realize Jeremy Guthrie was Japanese-American (Japanese mother) until just now.

Guthrie was apparently quite happy that Koji Uehara joined the Orioles and wants to invite him out for some sushi. Guthrie doesn't speak a word of Japanese, but has prepared some simple phrases to use when he meets Uehara for the first time.

The Orix Buffaloes announced that the contract for naming rights on their Ni-gun team (Surpass) has run out. Surpass, the real estate company, has stated that due to current economic conditions, they are no longer able to continue sponsoring the team.

For the first time in 10 years, the Buffaloes Ni-gun team will be named Orix.
