NPB News and Notes for 1/21: Evening Update

The Yomiuri Giants will be taking a look at Edgardo Alfonzo. Alfonzo has been invited to the Giants' training camp in Miyazaki in February for a try-out. The article mentions second and third as possible positions for Alfonzo.

24-year-old righty Levi Romero will also be in the mix. If Romero makes the team, it will be as an Ikusei player.

The Lotte Marines MUST be pretty desparate for cash. Lotte team president Ryuzo Setoyama is calling on players to purchase tickets to home games. According to the article, Tadahito Iguchi has already purchased 15 seats (worth about 5M yen).

Of the 6,000 tickets the Marines would like to sell before the season starts, about a third still remain unsold.

The Rakuten Golden Eagles unveiled their 5 year anniversary logo today.

It looks like Alfonzo finished with a .322/.383/.483 line in winter ball. I think Chris mentioned to me that the Mets were considering inviting him to camp, but that must have fallen through.

    I like the logo.
