NPB: Ken Takahashi down to 4 teams?

by on Jan.30, 2009 @ 5:15 am, under NPB

Tsuyoshi Nakanishi, Ken Takahashi's agent, said that there are currently 4 teams interested in his client's services. Said Takahashi, "It seems like I might finally have a chance to pitch in the Majors. [If given the chance,] I'll work hard over there."

No word on which teams. It was also mentioned that Takahashi received 3 offers from teams in Japan.

...Spring Training begins on February 1st. WBC players will report to Miyazaki training camp facilities sometime in the middle of February, allowing them 2-weeks worth of time to get together with their regular season team mates. Opening day is set for April 3rd.

I wonder if the same teams (Cubs, Orioles, Philles) you mentioned before are still in the running. Did you see this article where it seems as if he’s willing to take a minor league deal?

Interesting, he must really want to play in the majors, even if it means climbing up from the minors.

I haven’t really been able to find any sources mentioning which 4 teams are currently interested in him. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the same teams that have been mentioned in the past.
