NPB: Ken Takahashi signs minor league contract with Blue Jays and other notes

...Greg LaRocca apparently hurt his left elbow earlier today during practice. He was taken to a hospital and initial reports suggest some inflammation in the general area. The article doesn't mention specifically if this has anything to do with the surgery he underwent on the same elbow last year, but it appears as though the team will be careful with this and put LaRocca on separate training schedule.

...The Lotte Marines are taking a look at 33-year-old, right-handed hitting OFer Juan Munoz. Munoz was a part of the St. Louis Cardlinals minor league organization from 1995 to 2001. According to the article, the team is ready to sign Munoz to an Ikusei contract worth 2.4M yen. The Marines are currently looking for a right-handed outfielder with some pop.

...Ken Takahashi has signed a minor league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays and gained an invitation to Spring Training.

...Masahiro Tanaka threw 88 pitches in his first official bullpen session yesterday.

    The Jays have quite a few left-handed relievers so it should be interesting to see how this turns out. I wonder if he would be willing to pitch in the minor leagues if he doesn’t make the club out of spring training.

    As long as he has a shot of making the parent club at some point during the season, I think he’d be willing to pitch in the minors.

    In the article he mentions that notching at least 1 victory in the Majors was his goal.
