...Chang-Yong Lim (Yakult Swallows) was struck by a batted ball during yesterday's exhibition game against the Chunichi Dragons. Lim was selected by Korea to represent the country in the WBC. He is listed day-to-day with a bruised right elbow.

...After yesterday's loss against the Seibu Lions, Samurai Japan coaches got together for a 15-minute emergency meeting.
Said Hara, "Losing never feels good. I'm glad it was an exhibition game. But the team is definitely evolving. We need to take a look at what we need to address and continue moving forward."
Not everything went badly for Samurai Japan last night though. Here are some highlights:
- Michihiro Ogasawara drove in both runs for Samurai Japan.
- Masahiro Tanaka pitched a strong inning in relief while mixing in sliders and forkballs.
- Atsunori Inaba continues to do well at the plate: he went 3-for-3 with a double.
...The play-by-play announcers on TV were actually laughing a little last night when Takayuki Kishi entered the game. He was, of course, on the preliminary rosters for Samurai Japan but was cut from the final rosters.
Said Kishi, "I was really looking forward to getting into the game and facing a tough lineup like this. I wasn't feeling like I was out to get revenge or anything."
...Samurai Japan pitching coach Hisashi Yamada and general coach Tsutomu Ito attended the practice game between the Yomiuri Giants and Team China yesterday.
Said Ito after the game, "As long as we don't get too far ahead of ourselves, we should be ok. I think we got a pretty decent look at the team today."
Yamada added, "I was thinking about which pitcher might be best to start against the team while watching the game. It's much easier to make this decision when you can actually see who your opponent is."
...The Kansai Independent Leagues unveiled the uniforms that will be used during the 2009 season.
