The Hiroshima Carp beat the Yomiuri Giants, 6-3. It appeared as though the Giants had all the momentum after Michiro Ogaswara (2-run) and Alex Ramirez (solo) hit back-to-back home runs in the 3rd, but unfortunately Seth Greisinger fell apart in the top of the 4th and gave up 5 runs in the inning, which included a 2-run homer to Scott Seabol. Colby Lewis settled in nicely after the third and managed to limit the Giants to 2 hits over the next 3 innings. Katsuhiro Nagakawa picked up a save.

The Chunichi Dragons beat the Yokohama Bay Stars, 4-1. Daisuke Miura gave up 4 runs (all earned) over 7 innings over work. Takuya Asao notched a victory with 8 innings of 1-run (not earned), 5 hit ball. Hitoki Iwase tossed a perfect 9th for a save. Masahiko Morino (solo HR), Tony Blanco (solo HR), and Kazuhiro Wada (2 solo HRs) all hit home runs for the Dragons.

The Hanshin Tigers beat the Yakult Swallows, 5-2. Ando Yuya tossed 7 innings and gave up 2 runs (both earned) on 7 hits, a walk, and an HBP. Kyuji Fujikawa picked up a save. Masanori Ishikawa took the loss by giving up 5 runs (all earned) on 6 hits (2 homers) and 2 walks. Tomoaki Kanemoto showed that he's fully recovered with his 2-for-4 night that included a double in the first and home run in the 3rd. Kevin Mench continued to struggle and went 0-for-4. Norichika Aoki went 0-for-4 for the Swallows and Aaron Guiel gave the Swallows some hope for power this season when he went yard in the 5th. Jamie D'Antona went 1-for-4 (double) and started at first.

The Rakuten Eagles beat the Nippon Ham Fighters, 3-1. Yu Darvish wasn't quite as crisp on the mound, but went the distance for the loss. Hisashi Iwakuma tossed 6 solid innings and gave up a lone run on 6 hits. Kanehisa Arime tossed 2 innings for a save. All three runs the Eagles scored came in the first, with the big strike coming off the bat of Fernando Seguignol (2-run shot).

The Seibu Lions beat the Chiba Lotte Marines, 5-2. Hideaki Wakui picked up the win and Naoyuki Shimizu took the loss; Alex Graman got the save. Hiram Bocachica (solo) and Toru Hosaka (3-run) each hit home runs for the Lions. Yasuyuki Kataoka started his season with four straight singles and went 4-for-5.

The Softbank Hawks shut-out the Orix Buffaloes 8-0. Tsuyoshi Wada tossed 123 pitches to toss a 3 hit shut-out. Satoshi Komatsu had a rough outing, giving up 7 runs, all earned, on 8 hits and 4 walks. Nobuhiko Matsunaka drove in 5 RBIs (he now has 1,003 career RBIs) with a 3-for-3 day at the plate (2 doubles and a sac fly).
