...Akihiro Yano spent most of his time running and playing light catch yesterday at practice.

Said the chief trainer, "It looks like he has pain when he straightens his arm out. We'll be focusing more on how he can use his lower body more to ease the strain in his elbow."

...Shunsuke Ishikawa was demoted to Ni-gun on the 16th after giving up 2 runs in 2 innings of work against the Dragons on the 15th (he also gave up 4 runs in 7 innings as a starter on the 9th against the Carp).

...Minoru Iwata's left shoulder is apparently feeling a lot better. He's supposed to have a bullpen session today (about 50 pitches) and could throw some live BP sometime this month.

...Tomoyuki Kubota also appears to be making good progress. He held a bullpen session on the 16th with the catcher standing. The Tigers will continue to take things slowly with Kubota and if everything goes well, he might able to start throwing a little harder next month.

...Bay Stars manager Akihiro Ohya was given a stern warning by the Commissioner's office for causing a delay in last night's game against the Hiroshima Carp.

...Tatsunori Hara was none to pleased with the game Tetsuya Utsumi had against the Swallows last night.

Said Hara, "Based on his rank on the staff, that was one of the worse ways to give up runs. Just a really awful game."
