...Naoyuki Shimizu was removed from the active roster on the 19th. He hasn't been able to get things going yet this season, having given up 15 runs in 3 games.

...Bobby Valentine was thrown out of a game for the first time in his NPB career. Bobby was thrown out for harsh language that came as a result of arguing a call a safe / out call at first base.

...Katsuya Nomura's comments after the 15-0 drubbing his team received on Sunday:

We couldn't make the adjustments necessary to play in the Tokyo Dome. ... We don't have enough pitchers. It isn't possible for us to rely on Iwakuma and Tanaka to pitch 144 games.

...Alex Graman has been diagnosed with light inflammation in his left shoulder. The team will take a look at how he is over the next 10 days before making any further decisions. According to Graman, he was feeling discomfort in the shoulder prior to opening day.

...Brian Falkenborg is returning to the States to be with his pregnant wife. Falkenborg should be back with the team within 5 days.

...Shuichi Murata could be back with the parent club as soon as the 21st.

Said Akihiko Ohya (MGR), "He'll be joining the Ichi-gun team on the 21st for practice. His status will depend largely on how he feels after that."
