...The Asia series is an event that usually takes place in November and matches the top teams from each of the four major baseball leagues in Asia for bragging rights. Last year a major sponsor couldn't be found and the event ended in the red. Current estimates indicate that things probably won't be getting any better. The NPB is now discussing what can be done in order to reverse the trend. Changing the timing of the event appears to be something under consideration. ...The NPB also held an International Relations Committee Meeting on Monday to discuss "the problem" of scouts approaching amateur players in Japan. The original plan was to require all international scouts to register prior to making contact with amateur players, but it was later found that enforcing such a rule would be too difficult. One of the concerns at the moment appears to be not knowing what kinds of people are dropping by to scout amateur players. In an effort to uncover more information about the current situation, the committee decided to launch an investigation of its own.
