...Norihiro Akamatsu stole his 356th base last night against the Chunichi Dragons in the 5th inning. He's now tied for first with Takuro Ishii (HIR) atop the active career stolen base list.

...Minoru Iwata is set to toss some pitches during situational BP on the 25th. If everything goes well, he could pitch another BP on the 30th. And if all is well after those two outings, Iwata will most likely move onto starting a few games with the Ni-gun team.

When asked how he felt after a 74-pitch bullpen session, Iwata said that everything was fine.

...Naohisa Sugiyama, also making his way back from an injury, tossed a 40-pitch bullpen session and managed to mix some breaking pitches as well.

Yasuo Kato (Ikusei coach) said, "He's probably throwing at about 70-80% right now. He had a chance to stretch out his shoulder this year before getting hurt, so I think he might be ready before Kubota.

...And speaking of Tomoyuki Kubota, he also tossed a bullpen session (88 pitches). He focused primarily on his new pitch, the curve. Kubota later said that his shoulder was getting closer to being ready.

...Sho Nakata hit his 7th home run at Ni-gun yesterday against Rakuten and went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. It was his first home run since turning 20 (his birthday was on the 22nd).

...Since returning from the DL, Shuichi Murata is now 0-for-7 in 2 games.
