...With 8 years in the books on the 13th, Norihiro Akahoshi can now become a free agent at the end of the season.

...It appears as though things are slowly starting to fall into place for Kevin Mench. He went 4-for-5 with 2 RBIs in a game at Ni-gun on the 13th. He also hit his second home run in as many days.

...Yoshio Itoi was held out of the starting line-up on Wednesday after he complained of some pain in his right ankle during a game on the 12th. The team believes it to be a minor sprain and will take a wait and see approach for the time being.

...Daisuke Kusano went 1-for-4 on Wednesday to extend his hitting streak to 19 games.

...Naoto Watanabe had to be assisted off the field in the third when he hurt his right leg while running the bases. He was later diagnosed with a light sprain that will require a week to heal.

...Takeya Nakamura hit home runs in 2 consecutive at bats against the Buffaloes on Wednesday. His first home run was also his 100th of his career.

...Kazuhisa Ishii's victory against the Buffaloes on Wednesday gave him 150 career win (totals from both the NPB and MLB).

...Could this be a reason why Shuichi Murata is so popular amongst fans? Here is a comment he offered up after the game. (Thanks to this post for bringing it up, otherwise I probably would have missed it.)

When asked about the ball lightly grazing his uniform...
I'd like to continue wearing big uniforms so that I can aim for the bases loaded walk. ... It's just a difference of using a bat or my body. Regardless of which, it's still 1 run.
