NPB: Sho Nakata to join the Fighters on Wednesday; Ohtake scoreless over 31 innings

...Sho Nakata will be joining the parent club on the 20th for the first time this season.


...Kan Ohtake extended his scoreless streak to 31 consecutive innings.


...Teppei Tsuchiya was added to the active roster prior to last night's game against the Yakult Swallows and picked up a hit in his first time at bat; he finished 1-for-4 on the night.


...Takayuki Kishi 12-game winning streak came to an end with a loss to the Chunichi Dragons.


...Yuta Kuwazuru has tossed 23 consecutive scoreless innings for Tohoku Fukushi University. Kuwazuru is a 20 year-old righty starter that stands 180cm tall and weighs 80kg. He can throw a slider, curve, fork, cutter, and change and maxes out at 147km/h.

...The four teams in the Kansai Independent League will hold a press conference on Wednesday (5/20) to provide further details on their current financial situation.

    Nakata’s line is .298/.333/.603, but his BB/K ratio is 9:41. It will be interesting to see how he fares for the Fighters.

    Nakata’s biggest problem is the strike out right now. It seems like he’s one of those all-or-nothing type players and that doesn’t necessarily fit in with the Fighters’ line-up right now. And despite not having a big bat to rely on, the Fighters’ are doing a good job scoring runs.

    IMHO, the Fighters’ probably should have just left Nakata at Ni-gun for the rest of the season. But I’m guessing they hit the panic button with Sledge going down.
