CHIBA LOTTE MARINES

...The Marines are joining a growing list of baseball teams that are banning jet balloons at home games in fears that they may spread the Swine Flu virus. They also announced that the entire team will be wearing masks when they travel to the Koshien for a series against the Tigers.

HANSHIN TIGERS

...The Tigers announced that they hired former player Andy Sheets to a 1 year deal to help out with scouting in the United States -- Thomas O'Malley in the West and Sheets in the East.

NIPPON HAM FIGHTERS

...Tomohiro Nioka complained of tightness in his left hamstring during last night's game against the Yomiuri Giants and was replaced with a pinch-hitter in the 6th inning. The team will be taking it easy with Nioka.

OTHER

...Stella, the management arm of the Kansai Independent League, announced that they will be pulling out from the league because they failed to provide the necessary (promised) funding. For the time being, everything will continue as before with each team now being responsible for managing their own finances.
