...Shoitsu Ohmatsu hit his second home run in as many games last night against the Yokohama Bay Stars.
...The Tigers appear to be showing some interest in the Seibu Lions' G.G. Sato. Whether or not he becomes available, and at what price, is a whole other issue. Based on current rumors / reports, it sounds as if it might take a pitcher like Atsushi Noumi or Hirotaka Egusa to get Sato.
While the Tigers could potentially use another bat, giving up pitching in order to get it doesn't seem like a really good idea.
...Looks like Craig Brazell merchandise is selling pretty well (all 5 size LL shirts they had in stock sold out on the 7th, his second day with the parent club and the day he went 3-for-4 with an RBI).
...With his error last night against the Softbank Hawks, Tomoaki Kanemoto now has 5 errors on the year. At this rate he could end up breaking his current high of 10 errors in one season that he set back in 2004.
...The Tigers have now drawn 1,033,130 fans through 25 home game dates.
...Atsushi Noumi was taken off the active roster on Monday to make room for Minoru Iwata in the rotation.
...Koichi Ogata picked up his 1,500th career hit against Akio Shimizu in the bottom of the 8th in last night's game against the Orix Buffaloes. The hit also drove in 2 key runs for the Carp.
NIPPON HAM FIGHTERS
...Sho Nakata had a pinch-hit at bat in the top of the 9th in last night's game against the Swallows -- he flew out to first.
...The struggling Norihiro Nakamura has been struggling at the plate and could be demoted to Ni-gun at some point soon (he currently sports a lowly .167 Inter-league batting average).
YOKOHAMA BAY STARS
...According to this Sanspo report, Toshiyuki Kitagawa's grand slam against the Chiba Lotte Marines last night was the NPB's 2,000th grand slam.
...Daisuke Miura was hit in the right leg by a come-backer off the bat of Tadahito Iguchi in last night's game against the Chiba Lotte Marines. He should be ok for his next start.
...The Giants hit a season high 5 home runs in last night's game against the Eagles. Hayato Sakamoto also hit his second home run to lead-off a game this season.
...Shinnosuke Abe picked up his 1,000th career hit last night against the Rakuten Eagles. His hit came in the bottom of the 6th with Ryohei Isaka on the mound. Abe becomes the 253rd player in the NPB to reach the milestone.
