...Minoru Iwata gets the start against the Seibu Lions tonight.

...Norihiro Akahoshi has 19 stolen bases on the year. His next stolen base will give him 9 consecutive seasons of 20 or more stolen bases.

...Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi will likely get the start against the Lions tomorrow. Shimoyanagi is 2-1 with a 2.05 ERA over 4 games against the Lions during Inter-league play.

...Makoto Imaoka will likely start in a Ni-gun game on the 16th against Chunichi.

...Akihiro Yano continues to work on his throwing. While he hasn't physically tried throwing from behind the plate to second base, he has been working on throwing from similar distances. On Tuesday, he threw 12 tosses, about the same distance from home to second, while squatting and then standing to throw.

...Koichi Ogata will be getting a commemorative plate celebrating his 1,500th career hit installed at Mazda Stadium.

...The Eagles upgraded Jobu Morita's Ikusei contract and added him to their active roster today. He basically takes over Norihiro Nakamura's spot on the roster.

...Lions' managers Hisanobu Watanabe had this to say about Craig Brazell:

"Since I've heard he's been taking fly balls in the outfield, he may as well play in the outfield against us. His glove isn't bad, but with the body of his, I'm sure his range is pretty limited."

...Yoshinori Sato is back with the parent club. He gets the start tonight against the Softbank Hawks at Yahoo Dome.

Said Sato, "This (blister) problem has come up a few times and it has to stop. It seems to happen when I overthrow the ball, so I'd like to try and be a little more careful. ... I'd like to try and change my tempo. Keep things moving at a fast pace and slow things down when my hand gets moist. Against Softbank? This is not so much about me pitching against Softbank, but more about me pitching against myself."

...The Giants are concerned enough about Seung-Yeop Lee's struggles at the plate that they are considering using Yoshiyuki Kamei at first. Kamei has been taking ground balls at first since Friday (6/5) just in case he's needed there at some point in the near future.

...Nippon Bunri University's Junpei Ono (4th year student) hit 150km/h on the radar gun on Tuesday against Ryukoku University.
