NPB: Katsuya Nomura post-game interview from 6/10/2009

Here are Nomura's comments after a 15-1 drubbing the Eagles received at the hands of the Chunichi Dragons on Wednesday night.

So, do you have anything for me?

That home run the team surrendered in the first really shifted all the momentum to the Dragons...
The first run is important, but what matters more is what happens after that. If the pitchers do their jobs and keep the team in the game, there are always chance to get back into the game. What runs in the second inning hurt us more.

Good pitchers will be sure to do better starting in the second to keep the game close.

You seemed to say something to the ump in the fourth...
Everyone was saying they couldn't see the ball because of the fog. I just asked if it might make sense to wait a bit to see if it clears. I wonder why this stadium seems to have so much trouble with fog. Is it because it's close to the ocean? It's a very unusual stadium.

On starting Jobu immediately after promoting him...
Of course. Even thought he seemed a little anxious. At least that's what it looked like from where I sat.

Will you continue to use him?
I intend to give young players chances.

On giving up 15 runs and 19 hits, both seasonal highs...
If you play this game long enough, you get to see a lot of different things.
