HANSHIN TIGERS
...The Tigers trade Taiyo Fujita (P) to the Seibu Lions for Shogo Akada (OF).
...Craig Brazell has now hit a home run in 4 straight games. Incidentally, the team has gone 1-3 during those four games.
...Yasutomo Kubo won his 14th career IL game yesterday, tying Kenshin Kawakami for most IL victories. He also picked up his first hit (a double to left in the third) since May 5, 2008.
...Hideki Matsui a Tiger? I'm not sure if I could see it happening, especially with his ties to the Giants, but apparently the Tigers are interested and will likely kick the tires during the upcoming off-season to see if the feeling is mutual.
HIROSHIMA CARP
...Marty Brown apparently doesn't approve of Katsuya Nomura speaking poorly of his players in the press. Said Brown, "I don't understand Japanese so I don't really know what he's saying, but saying bad things about players goes against my personal policies. And I also don't think fans want to hear it either."
SOFTBANK HAWKS
...By clinching the best IL record, the Hawks also won a nice 50M yen bonus.
YOMIURI GIANTS
...How important was yesterday's win against the Seibu Lions? So important that Tatsunori Hara inserted one of his best options in the pen, Tetsuya Yamaguchi, into the game in the 5th inning. With the rain coming down and there being a possibility of it getting called early, Hara wanted to make sure his team held onto the lead a 6-3 lead.

What’s next, Mariano Rivera finishing his career in a Red Sox uniform?

I honestly can’t see it happening, but if it were to happen… I think it would be just cause for the universe to implode.

Just a small correction: Taiyo Fujita is a pitcher, and not a catcher.

Whoops. My bad. Don’t know why I said catcher.
Thanks for the heads up.

I mean, as far as I know, he’s actually still their senshu-kaicho, isn’t he?

Thanks for putting this site together.
For someone like me in the states that can barely read basic Japanese. Your site is a lifesaver.
Keep up the great work!
HANSHIN…..TIGERS!

I think I read some comments on Ni-channel from fans wondering how the senshu kaicho could be traded like that too.
