...At a stockholder's meeting yesterday, Club President Nobuo Minami was grilled about the team's poor performance. Of particular issue was the team's choice of foreign players this season and how the team came to decide on Craig Brazell after Kevin Mench failed.

...Club President Katsuhiro Nakamura said that an announcement of some coaching changes will be made within the next few days to try and help snap the Buffaloes out of their current slump.

Incidentally, the Buffaloes currently have three pitching coaches: Osamu Sasaki (chief coach), Eiji Kiyokawa, and Motoyuki Akahori. If you throw in Hideo Nomo (technical advisor), that would actually make four.

...Potentially bad news for the Eagles: Hisashi Iwakuma will be taken off the active rosters on Thursday due to pain in his right elbow. The plan right now is for him to miss his next start, assuming the pain goes away with rest.

...Yuki Kume was taken off the active rosters on Wednesday after being diagnosed with a fractured right wrist. He initially hurt the wrist during practice prior to Tuesday's game against the Chunichi Dragons, at which point it was believed to be a light sprain.

...Marc Kroon had successful surgery on his left middle finger on Wednesday.

...Kentaro Nishimura will undergo endoscopic surgery on his right elbow sometime before the end of June.

...Taishi Ohta was called up to the parent club prior to Wednesday's game against the Seibu Lions. He did not make an appearance in the game.

I really hope the team doesn't do the same thing the Fighters are doing with Sho Nakata.

...41-year-old Shoji Arisumi umpired his 1,000th career game last night during the Yakult / Swallows game at Jingu Stadium. He becomes the 11th active / 46th overall Central League umpire to achieve the feat.
