...So what does Hideki Matsui think of the Tigers' recent interest in him?

"I can't really talk about that right now. I am grateful that they have an interest in me. I've been a Hanshin fan since I was a kid."

When asked about whether or not staying in the US was his first priority, he said: "That's basically the idea, but who knows what'll happen."

...It was decided Thursday that having three pitching coaches at the Ichi-gun level didn't make much sense. To that end, the team re-assigned Chief Pitching Coach Osamu Sasaki to the Ni-gun team and promoted Eiji Kiyokawa to Chief Pitching Coach. The shift now means the Buffaloes will have 2 pitching coaches at Ichi-gun and 3 at Ni-gun.

...Shohei Tateyama didn't pitch a very good game against the Chiba Lotte Marines last night (5 runs, all eared over 5 innings), but he also didn't lose. That means he still hasn't lost a game since August 15, 2008.

...Kazuki Fukuchi earned his International FA rights on the 18th. He did, however, sign a 3-year deal with the Swallows on October 10, 2008.
