Know someone that's a big Hanshin Tigers fan?
Or perhaps someone that really digs the Koshien Stadium and it's rich history?
How about giving a gift that keeps on giving (well, at least for 10 years)?
um... What the heck is that?
To explain: Koshien Stadium is selling 30,000 individual bricks for 20,100yen a pop. These bricks will then be put on display, starting in March of 2010 (when the final stage of the Koshien Renewal Project comes to an end), in various locations around the stadium for anyone to view. The display itself will not permanent and will be taken down after 10 seasons, some time in November of 2019.
Each brick will come with a certificate of authenticity and will also include a Koshien Museum pass that will permit free entry to the museum once a year until the end of the 10 period.
Buyers of the brick will also get to specify a message -- from 1 to 3 lines at 16 letters per line with a max of 48 letters in all -- to be inscribed on their brick.
What an inscribed brick will look like
The bricks will be on sale right on until they are sold out and will be added into the display as orders are placed and bricks created.
The Japan High School Baseball Federation also announced earlier today that they will also have a special section of bricks devoted to past Koshien High School Baseball Tournament winners.
So what are you waiting for?
