NPB: Carp pursuing Andy Phillips? Dohmann to be released.

...The Carp are showing interest in Andy Phillips and think he can help solve some of their problems on offense. Phillips was playing for the Chicago White Sox AAA farm team earlier during the season but is currently a free agent.

...The Carp will release Scott Dohmann, largely due to his ineffectiveness on the mound. In 9 games with the parent club, Dohmann gave up 16 runs (all earned) on 14 hits, 1 homer, 7 walks and 3 HBPs over 8.1 innings of work for an ERA of 17.28. He also threw 3 wild pitches and had a balk.

OTHER

...The 91st Annual High School Baseball Tournament doesn't gets underway until August, but the regional tournaments are in full swing. Earlier today, in the second round of the South Hokkaido, Sapporo Regionals, Sapporo Hokuryo HS beat Sapporo Hakuryo HS by the score of 37-0. This would actually be the second time this tournament that a team has beaten their opponent by a margin of 30+ runs: on June 20th, in the first round of the South Hokkaido, Hakodate Regionals, Esashi HS beat Setana Shogyo HS 34-0.
