Yoshimi probably deserves to start the game more than Ohtake does. His ERA is the best in the league (and it’s not really close) and he’s racked up twenty more innings than Ohtake. It’s not like Ohtake is a bad choice though, especially if that’s who the fans want to see.

I guess the Hiroshima fans were at it again. Especially if you see the catcher fan vote winner.

Ohtake had a really great start to the season. I think he got a lot of vote momentum from that. And if you look at his last six starts, 3 of them really jump out for being so bad:

    6/6 – vs Hawks – 2 IP, 6 R, 6 ER
    6/11 – vs Marines – 2.2 IP, 7 R, 7 ER
    6/27 – vs Dragons – 7 IP, 5 R, 5 ER

Take out those three bad starts and he’s 5-1 with a 0.84 ERA.

Still, that only shows how much more consistent Yoshimi has been so far.

Incidentally, here’s an interesting stat on Yoshimi:
10 of his 14 starts have come at home where he’s 5-2 with a 1.35 ERA.

Also, one other thing… Since one of the games will be played at Mazda Stadium, I’m guessing a lot of Hiroshima fans (and perhaps fans in general) voted for Hiroshima players. You could probably argue the same thing with the PL rosters.
