Some comments from Katsuya Nomura after last night's game against the Orix Buffaloes ended in a 4-4 tie.

Will you guys still be able to meet your deadlines?

After scoring the tying run in the 8th, were you thinking about getting the go-ahead run to score as well?
Only if that other pitcher kept on pitching...

You ran a lot for the tying run...
If the chance presents itself, go after it. Looks like the players are finally catching on.

Your thoughts on Tanaka's performance...
Ma-kun was bad today. I wonder what happened. His control... When things go bad, things go really Bad. Watching him from the dugout, it looked like he wasn't getting his weight on top of the pitches.

He tossed 142 pitches over 9 inning...
He threw a lot, so I thought about taking him out after 8, but he strongly said, "I want to pitch until the 9th," so I left him in there.

A come-from-behind victory would have been nice.
We haven't won a lot so I'm sure everyone was anxious about getting a win.

Hijirisawa's missed bunt attempts in the 10th must have hurt.
When I think about how I can help the team, I figure I should be able to do the little things like bunt. I wonder if he can't bunt.

I think it happened once before too. In close games, bunts are important. I was a catcher for a long time and I can tell you that the opposition doesn't like it when there are runners in scoring position. There's no guarantee that a pitcher won't get a hit. And on the offensive side of things, it's always good to have runners in scoring position.

The team managed to defend itself against a squeeze play.

We thought they might [call for a squeeze play]. I wasn't sure about what I wanted to do at first. Fukumori flashed some good leather and Nakatani did a great job blocking the plate.
