Hanshin Tigers

...Despite the team's poor performance this season, team owner Shinya Sakai has no intention of removing Akinobu Mayumi.

"I don't think there's any reason to replace him in the middle of the season," said Sakai. "In terms of how he should proceed moving forward, he'll get better with experience. I would like to continue supporting him in the second half."

...With an error in last night's game against the Yakult Swallows, the Tigers have now committed 59 errors this year. The Tigers collected 62 over 144 games last season.

...Takashi Toritani was taken out of last night's game prior to taking the field in the 4th. Toritani was hit in the left calf while batting in the 2nd inning. He appeared to be ok after that game.

...Yu Darvish managed to carry a no-hitter into the 7th in Wednesday night's game against the Chiba Lotte Marines, but Tasuku Hashimoto broke it up with a 1-out single.

...Takeya Nakamura dedicated his 31st home run to his newly born baby boy. His boy was born at 1am on Wednesday and weighed in a 2,560grams.

Yakult Swallows

...Aaron Guiel was thrown out of a game tonight against the Hanshin Tigers for arguing balls and strikes with the home plate ump after being called out on strikes in the third inning.
