The Swallows decided to allow Yoshinori Sato to stay on the All-Star roster despite the fact that he likely won't be able to pitch. The reason: they can't afford to lose him for 10-days when the second-half begins. There is a rule that stipulates players removed from the All-Star roster will also be not be allowed on the active roster for 10 days once the regular season resumes after the All-Star break.
Hayato Sakamoto was given the green light for the All-Star game. Sakamoto was held out of the starting line-up for the Giants' last 3 games of the first half with tightness in his lower back.
"I'm ok," said Sakamoto. "I tested out my fielding and my movements and everything seems to be ok."
