What’s the idea behind that? I see the Eagles are 4.5 games out of third place. There are two months of the season left. That’s a lot of games still. They’ll go head-to-head with the Lions 11 more times, I think.

I’d say they’re still in it, but don’t have much in the way of margin for error. For all their offense, the Lions have some holes in their game. The Eagles have a lot of problems, too. I hope it tightens up and there’s a battle for third going on in September.

Wouldn’t that be something? Eagles in the race for the Climax Series in Septmember?

Sorry, a slight mistake on my part. It should have read that they now pretty much have no shot at finishing in first. I have since updated the post.

    Thank you for catching that.

Hi Gwynar, hey, no problem. Now I get it. And as I’ve said before, you do a super job with this. You’ve got the best NPB site goin’, hands down.

And what did I see a few days back, a post that the Swallows had a magic number of 52, 51, something or other? I know they like to throw big ‘magic numbers’ like that around in Japan, but in the 50s?

Well, we shall see if Rakuten can close the gap on the Lions. Would be nice to have one league where there’s a battle for third, it’s pretty much over in the CL.

Thanks for the compliment. I’m trying my best to keep the daily news flowing, but it can be rough at times because my schedule isn’t always so accommodating.

BTW: I also find the whole obsession with magic numbers at this time of year to be quite strange. But then the media loves to write sensational stories. And the fans love to eat it up.
