...Kazuyoshi Tatsunami collected his 2,471st hit last night against the Hanshin Tigers and is now tied for 7th place with Shigeo Nagashima.

Hiroshima Carp

...Tomohiro Umetsu complained of pain in his right shoulder during an outing in a Ni-gun game against the Orix Sunday and was taken to a hospital on Tuesday and was diagnosed with an injury in his right labrum (右肩関節上方関節唇損傷).

Orix Buffaloes

...Alex Cabrera tied Alex Ramirez as the only foreigners to win 6 MVP of the Month awards.

Rakuten Eagles

...Bad news for the Eagles: Daisuke Kusano threw out his back while playing the field against the Orix Buffaloes on Tuesday night and will require 2 weeks for a full recovery.

Seibu Lions

...Jonah Bayliss arrived in Japan on Wednesday after his work visa finally cleared. He could be activated to play as early as Thursday.

Softbank Hawks

...Jose Ortiz dropped by Yahoo Dome to inform the club that he's feeling better and should be able to get back on the playing field within 2-3 days. Ortiz is shooting to make his return for the final game of a 3-game series against the Seibu Lions on the 9th.

Nobuhiro Matsuda also dropped by Yahoo Dome and told the Hawks that he should be able to return sooner than his last stint on the DL, which was about 2 months.

...Nagisa Arakaki had his right shoulder checked out on the 5th because it hasn't been feeling any better.

Pitching coach Ikuo Takayama, who has apparently already seen the results from the test, said, "It doesn't look very good, and there's no need to rush him."

Yomiuri Giants

...Alex Ramirez played in his 1,219th game on Wednesday night and tied Wally Yonamine for most games played by a foreigner in the CL. Tuffy Rhodes holds the NPB record (and continues to extend it) with 1,624.
