Chunichi Dragons

...Yudai Kawai's 11-game winning streak to start the season came to a grinding halt last night as the Hanshin Tigers smacked him around for 9 runs (6 earned) on 13 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strike outs over 6 innings of work. YOWZA!

Hanshin Tigers

...Tomoaki Kanemoto collected his 4,000th total base in the first inning of Thursday night's against the Chunichi Dragons. He becomes only the 13th player in NPB history to reach the milestone.

... Follow-up tests on Jeff Williams left shoulder confirm that it's improving, but still needs more time before a throwing program can be started.

Nippon Ham Fighters

...Hichori Morimoto was hit by a pitch in the first inning of last night's game against the Seibu Lions and was immediately taken out of the game. X-rays revealed a fracture in his 5th metacarpal bone in his left hand (左第5中手骨骨折). Morimoto will likely require 3-4 weeks for a full recovery.

Orix Buffaloes

...Hiromichi Fujiwara tossed a 1-hitter against the Buffaloes last night while facing the minimum (a double play erased the runner). The last time the Buffaloes were held to just 1 hit with 0 LOB was back in 1964 when the team was called the Hankyu Braves and Tadashi Sugiura was the opposing pitcher on the mound for the Nankai Hawks.

Rakuten Eagles

...Teppei extended his hitting streak to 22 games, breaking the previous team high set by Daisuke Kusano earlier this season.

Softbank Hawks

...Additional testing done on Nagisa Arakaki revealed arthritis in his right shoulder (右肩関節炎). There is no set date for his return -- he isn't even able to throw the ball at this point.
