...Kazuya Tsutsui may have pitched himself out of the rotation after giving up 6 runs (all earned) on 6 hits over 2 innings of work to the Yomiuri Giants on Saturday night. Satoru Kanemura could meet a worse fate, a demotion to Ni-gun, after giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits in the same game.
Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi could also be removed from the starting rotation, although that's less likely after his solid effort on Sunday (5 IP, 5 H, K, BB, 2 R, 2 ER).
...The Tigers had a bit of a scare on Satuday when Keiichi Hirano slide head-first into third base. It initially appeared as though Hirano may have injured his right hand, but after getting his hand checked out at a hospital after the game, it appears as though he'll be alright.
...The team is still thinking about offering Tomoaki Kanemoto a contract extension worth 1.1B yen over 2 years. But that doesn't mean they aren't going to look for some more offensive help. At this point, it appears as though Hideki Matsui might be their biggest target, assuming he decides to make a return to the NPB.

...Shota Ohno was diagnosed with the flu on Sunday and will be quarantined for at least 3 days.
...Takeshi Yamasaki hit his 350th (vs Yuki Karakawa) and 351st (Brian Sikorski) home runs of his career in Sunday night's game against the Chiba Lotte Marines.
...The Lions will likely send Chikara Onodera to Ni-gun after his outing on Sunday against the Nippon Ham Fighters (he gave up a game-tying 3-run homer to Atsunori Inaba in the bottom of the 9th).
...Although not much of an update, Shinya Miyamoto said that he would like to return to the parent club within 10 days.
...Shinnosuke Abe was in the starting line-up as a first baseman in Saturday's game against the Hanshin Tigers. The last time he played first was back in 2005 (32 games).
