...Takahiro Arai dropped by the Diamond Dreams exhibit at Tokyo Midtown on Monday.

... When Hisanori Takahashi struck out Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi in the top of the 4th, it gave him 1,000 in his career.

...Yoshinobu Takahashi will start in his first Ni-gun game at first base on the 19th (he was a DH in his previous start).


...The NPB and the Player's Association met up on Monday (8/17) for a scheduled business meeting. The Player's Association did not formally submit their proposal for setting both national and international FA requirement periods at 7 years.

"We'll start discussing the proposal during our next meeting," said Player's Association Director Toru Matsubara. "We would like to have a decision on the proposal by the summer next year."

The Player's Association also withdrew their request for guaranteed salaries for players that participated in the WBC.

Said Matsubara, "The Clubs take on a lot of risk as well. And some of the players started to say that it would be silly to make them also pay more on top of that risk."

...The Player's Association announced that they will be holding a baseball clinic for people over 18 on October 3rd in Kawasaki Prefecture.

Former Seibu Lion Masayuki Matsunuma will be coaching at the clinic. Spaces are limited to 100 people and there is a fee of 8,900yen.
