(Giants lead series, 10-4-0)

A hit by Norichika Aoki (1-for-3, HBP, BB, RBI) that drove Kazuki Fukuchi (3-for-5, 2 R) across home plate from second in the top of the 1st gave the Swallows a 1-0 lead. A single by Yasushi Iihara (2-for-4, BB, R, 2 RBI) and a throwing error by Yoshitomo Tani (RF) in the bottom of the 3rd, allowed the Swallows to score their second run of the game.

Meanwhile, Yuki Tanaka retired the first 10 batters he faced before giving up a single in the top of the 4th. An HBP after the hit put runners on first and second, but Yuki got Alex Ramirez (2-for-5, R) and Yoshiyuki Kamei (1-for-4, HR, R, 2 RBI) to fly out for the final 2 outs of the inning.

The Giants finally managed to get on the board against Yuki in the top of the 6th on RBI singles by Shinnosuke Abe (1-for-4, HBP, R, RBI) and Tani (1-for-4, RBI). But the Swallows quickly responded with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning on a 2-run homer by Munehiro Shida (1-for-1, HR, R, 2 RBI).

In the bottom of the 7th, Kazuhiro Hatakeyama (2-for-3, BB, 2 B) picked up a 2-out double and then scored when Iihara's grounder to first went through Kamei's legs for an error. Hiroyasu Tanaka (3-for-5, 3B, 2 R, RBI) followed with a triple that scored Iihara and Ryo Yoshimoto's (1-for-2, HR, R, 2 RBI) 2-run blast made it 8-2.

The Giants answered back with a 2-run homer in the top of the 8th and the Swallows returned one of those runs in bottom of the inning when Iihara was walked with the bases loaded and 2 out.

The Swallows brought in Chang-Yong Lim for the final three outs of the game, but he wasn't very effective. He gave up a lead-off single to Takuya Kimura (1-for-4, R) and struck out pinch-hitter Takahiro Suzuki for the first out of the inning, but then gave up two infield singles to load the bases. The Giants sent in Michihiro Ogasawara to pinch hit for Tetsuya Matsumoto and he didn't disappoint: he hit a 2-run single that brought the Giants to within 3 runs of tying the game. But Lim struck out Abe and got Ramirez to ground out to short for the final out of the game.

(Hawks lead series, 8-7-0)

Yu Darvish surrended a solo homer to Jose Ortiz (2-for-4, 2 HR, 2 R, 3 RBI) in the bottom of the 2nd and kept the Hawks off the board over the next 3 innings. And he almost got out of the 6th without surrendering any runs, but with 2 outs, he gave up a single to Hiroki Kokubo (3-for-4, 2B, R, RBI) and then served up another home run to Ortiz that erased the Fighters' 1-run lead and replaced it with a 1-run deficit.

Darvish gave up 3 more runs in the bottom of the 8th on an RBI single by Kokubo and a 2-run single by Hitoshi Tamura (1-for-4, 2 RBI) that gave the Hawks their 6-2 lead.

The Fighters scored both of their runs in the top of the 1st: Chung-Shou Yang (1-for-3) led off with a single; Kazuya Murata (2-for-4, BB, 3B, R) failed on his sac bunt attempt; Atsunori Inaba (2-for-5, R) hit a single that put runners on first and second; Shinji Takahashi (0-for-3, 2 BB) walked to load the bases; Tomohiro Nioka (1-for-2, 2 RBI) drove in 2 runs with a single; and the next two batters strucks out with runners on first and second.
