Honda won it's first Intercity Championship in 13 years (2nd overall).

Hisayoshi Chono had another solid night, going 1-for-3 with a walk, and 2 RBI. Chono ended up getting the Leading Hitter Award with his .579 (11-for-19) batting average.  The Hashido Award (Best Pitcher Award) went to 27-year-old Honda pitcher Rikiya Chikugawa. The Wakajishi Award (Rookie Award) went to 23-year-old righty Kota Suda (Honda).

Incidentally, Chikugawa was also nursing a bad left thigh, something he hurt during the tournament.

So did you actually go to the final game or not, then?

Chikugawa gets my official stamp of approval! I hope his leg is okay though.

Kota Suda was playing for Honda, but actually works for JFE Higashinihon… I like his quote “I hope to pitch in a JFE uniform next year” :)

(But I bet he’d rather be pitching in a pro uniform two years down the line if possible…)

I actually couldn’t make the game. But I did watch portions of it on TV (BS1 was televising it). I really wanted to go but something came up at the last minute.
