Japan Student Baseball Association Charter

by on Sep.03, 2009 @ 4:24 pm, under College, High School

This is already a few days old, but in case anyone missed it, the Japan Student Baseball Association is currently working on rewriting it's charter.  The charter helps govern both high school and college baseball in Japan.

Right now, there are two fairly big issues that are making it's way into the new charter.

  1. allow colleges / high schools to compete against amateur / pro teams (section 15 of the new draft)
  2. financial aid / scholarships that cover school costs will be allowed (section 23.2 of the new draft)

For those that want to take a look at the new charter (in Japanese of course), you can visit the Japan Student Baseball Association website and find a link to it on the front page.  I've read through most of it and unless you're big on law, you're probably not missing much by skipping out on it.

Incidentally, this is still the first draft of the updated charter.  A second draft is due to arrive some time in November.  And the new chapter should be in full effect by April 1st, 2010.
