...With the off-day on Friday, Masahiro Araki was able to rest his ailing left wrist for a third straight day. The wrist is still bothering him, but with the team in the middle of a 3-game slide, Araki will likely be in the starting line-up today against the Yokohama Bay Stars.
...Tomoaki Kanemoto has been struggling at the plate but he continues to get on base (his batting average dropped from .283 before the All-Star break to its current level of .261). Kanemoto currently leads both leagues with 74 walks.

...The Ni-gun player with the flu was diagnosed with the type A strain of the influenza virus and was sent to the hospital. It still is not known whether or not the player has the swine flu or not.
The team is making moves to protect it's players, requiring all Ni-gun players to wear masks during travel periods. They have also banned players from stepping outside during away games.
The Tigers also separated recently promoted Ni-gun players from the rest of the Ichi-gun players during their current road trip to Hiroshima (different Shinkansen train cars, taxi cabs to the stadium instead of riding in the team bus).

...Takeshi Yamasaki rounded up the players for an emergency meeting (the sseason's first) after Friday night's loss against the Nippon Ham Fighters. Yamasaki wanted to remind everyone that even though they've lost 3 in a row, they are still very much in the running for a Climax Series appearance and that it was too early to give up.
He also apparently told Teppei that even if he can't play, he should be vocal in the dugout, cheering the team on.
