...Craig Brazell hurt his left knee while batting in the second inning against the Hiroshima Carp on Saturday. With a runner on first with no out, Brazell hit a grounder to second and as he was able to run toward first, crumbled to the ground. He was immediately lifted and take to the hospital.
Brazell has a history of problems with his knee and the team is hoping that it isn't anything serious.
...Yamato was taken off the active roster on Saturday because he wasn't feeling well. The Tigers are being extra-cautious with players that are feeling sick.

...Sho Nakata was handed a 10-day suspension for being late to pre-game practice on Wednesday (9/2). The suspension begins on the 5th and will last until the 15th.
Looks like the team might also be trying to make an example out of Nakata based on comments from a team rep that basically went something like, "We don't want him setting a bad example for the other players."
...Yamasaki Takeshi needs just one more home run to break the record for most home runs by a player over the age of 40. He hit number 33 off Nippon Ham Fighters' starter Masaru Takeda on Saturday and is now tied with Hiromitsu Kadota.
...Yasuyuki Kataoka was not in the starting line-up on Saturday due to neck and back pains. An examination at a hospital prior to the game didn't reveal any muscular damage. No word on his status moving forward, but the Lions will likely give him some rest.
...According to Sponichi, Takeya Nakamura has suffered a slight setback on Saturday and will likely require a little more time before he can make it back to the parent club. It appears he still isn't quite 100% when it comes to running so the team has decided to give him a little more time.
The original plan was for him to start in his first rehab game at Ni-gun on Sunday (9/6), but that has been pushed back to some time after Tuesday (9/8). That means he likely won't rejoin the team until after the 9th, at the earliest (assuming 1 rehab start).
...Nobuhiro Matsuda made his first rehab start at Ni-gun since suffering a fracture in his right wrist. He was the starting third baseman and batted third and went 0-for-3. Matsuda did also make an appearance as a pinch hitter in a Ni-gun game on the 3rd.
