Mazda ASG 2009 Charity Auction raises 16M yen

The NPB announced that they raised 16,137,263yen for the Japan Red Cross through the Mazda All-Star Game 2009 Charity Auction.

The charity auction featured 62 game-worn uniforms with player signatures on each of them.  Yu Darvish's uniform (alone) sold for 1,203,000yen.

A list of uniforms that sold for over 500,000yen (all other uniforms went for less):

Tomoaki Kanemoto - 781,000yen
Masahiro Tanaka - 553,000yen
Hayato Sakamoto - 521,000yen
Michihiro Ogasawara - 539,000yen
Hiroyuki Nakajima -512,000yen

    The best is that Inaba’s went for 411000 :)

    Though, a lot of those uniforms are signed on the “wrong” side — I guess it depends on the purpose. If someone’s going to wear a uniform they’d usually rather have it signed on the back, but if they’re going to frame and display it, then the front — something like that.

    I’m going to venture a guess that the person that spent 1,203,000yen on Darvish’s uniform won’t be wearing it to any games anytime soon.

    BTW: based on the current rate exchange, 1,203,000yen is worth about US$12,927.
