Chiba Lotte Marines

...Tadahito Iguchi left Thursday night's game in the bottom of the 6th after he was found to have a fever. If his fever doesn't go away by Friday, he will be taken to the hospital for testing.

Chunichi Dragons

...With his appearance in Thursday night's game against the Hanshin Tigers, Hitoki Iwase now has 11 consecutive seasons of 50+ appearances.

Rakuten Eagles

...Eagles' pitching coach, Kento Sugiyama, was diagnosed with the swine flu.  It is the first such case for the Eagles.  The club has announced that they will be checking up on their players and staff members every day starting on the 11th to see if anyone else begins to show signs of having the flu.

Seibu Lions

...Takeya Nakamura hit 9 home runs during pre-game BP.

Softbank Hawks

...Hitoshi Tamura was held out of the line-up on Thursday.  Tamura was hit a foul ball off his left foot in a game on Wednesday and is still feeling pain in the area.

Nippon Ham Fighters

...Yu Darvish's next start has been confirmed for the 13th. It was apparently a toss up between the 13th and the 16th, but the Fighters wanted him back ASAP, so they ended up picking the 13th.

Yakult Swallows

...Norichika Aoki was interviewed by a TV crew from Cuba during pre-game practice today. This year marks the 80th anniversary of Cuba - Japan diplomatic relations and the TV crew was apparently putting a show introducing Japan.

...Ryoji Aikawa was left out of the starting line-up on Thursday with a fever. Aikawa did not attend pre-game practice and was instead sent to the hospital -- his tests for flu came back negative.

...The Swallows announced that Ricky Barrett will be returning to the States on the 11th to get more testing done on his left elbow. It's likely that he will not be returning.

Yomiuri Giants

...He's on fire!  Shinnosuke Abe is about as hot as you can get with a bat right now.  Over a 5 game period he's 11-for-18 with 7 HRs and 9 RBIs.

Abe once hit home runs in 6 consecutive games back in April 2004.

...Michihiro Ogasawara collected his 1,000th career run scored in the 3rd inning of Thursday night's game against the Yokohama Bay Stars. He becomes the 36th player in NPB history to reach that milestone.  He is also just the 23rd player in NPB history to have both 1,000 RBIs and 1,000 R.
